Update policy
Updates within version 1 are included with your licence at no extra cost. The app updates itself when you are online: when a new version is ready you see an "Update available" message with a Reload button, and your data is never touched by an update. If a paid version 2 ever exists it will be an optional upgrade, and your version 1 keeps working.
v1.1.0 - August 2026
- Bills can now be Quarterly. Pick Quarterly when adding or editing an expense, enter the next bill date, and EachPayday spreads the amount across your pays and expects the bill every three months from that date. Perfect for electricity, water and council rates. Quarterly bills get their own checklist section and appear in Upcoming bills and the Bills account like any other bill.
v1.0.0 - August 2026
- Refer a friend and you both get AU$5. Every licence now has a referral code: your friend pays AU$5 less at checkout, and you earn AU$15 for every 3 referred purchases that stick. Your code lives on the new Refer a friend card in Settings; Referring a friend explains how rewards confirm and pay out, and the program terms have the fine print.
- Moving to a new device is one step now: the welcome screen offers Restore from a backup file directly, so after entering your licence key a new phone or laptop goes straight from empty to your full budget, no setup screens. Details in Backing up and restoring.
- And yes, the version number jumped: EachPayday is now version 1, matching the update policy your licence carries.
v0.54.0 - August 2026
- EachPayday is now available to buy. A one-time purchase of AU$29.99 (the launch price) gets you a licence key by email, with updates within version 1 included. The demo stays free to explore on the EachPayday site. The Beta tag has come off the footer, and thank you to everyone who tested during the beta.
- Buying help: your card statement shows the purchase as LINK.COM* EACHPAYDAY, and your payment receipt email comes from Link, the Stripe service that processes EachPayday purchases. Your licence key email is separate and comes from licence@eachpayday.com.au. More in Your licence and devices.
v0.53.0 - August 2026
- Extra income added after a cycle is marked complete now reopens the cycle first. Before this change the income saved, but the completed cycle's archived figures and your Surplus balance did not move until you reopened and completed the cycle yourself. On an archived cycle the add button now reads Reopen and add: confirming reopens the cycle and records the income, and you mark the cycle complete again so the new amount is counted. Removing an extra income entry is locked while the cycle is archived, the same as the checklist.
v0.52.0 - July 2026
- Clearer surplus messaging in your early cycles. Your surplus only banks when you complete a cycle, so before then your available surplus can read low or below zero even though this cycle is on track. The Surplus card now explains this, and the warning when you log a spend names this cycle's surplus and when it banks, instead of just flashing a negative figure.
v0.51.0 - July 2026
- The Bills account card now lists the bills already paid this cycle, above the bills still to come, so you can see the whole cycle's direct debits in one place.
- Your payday balance-check reminder and your last-backup date now travel inside your backup file. Restore on a new phone or laptop and the reminder still appears on your first payday, and the app knows when you last backed up instead of treating the restored copy as never backed up.
v0.50.0 - July 2026
- Tap any screenshot in the help topics to view it full screen. The pictures are captured at twice their display size, so the enlarged view is sharp on small screens. Close it with the close button, the Escape key, or a tap on the background.
- Seven more screenshots across the help topics: the setup wizard's Pay schedule, Starting balances and Savings goals screens, the theme and accent options, a completed and locked checklist with its Reopen button, the Close out prompt, and the backup reminder. Every picture uses sample data only.
v0.49.0 - July 2026
- The help topics now include screenshots. Getting started, the set-aside method, expenses vs surplus spends, analytics, backing up and installing each show pictures of the real app beside the words, and the pictures match your light or dark look. Every picture uses sample data only.
- In the app, the pictures load from this help site when you open a topic, so the app itself stays small and keeps working fully offline. Without a connection the topics simply read as text.
v0.46.0 - July 2026
- EachPayday can now nudge you to install it as an app on your device, so it opens from your home screen or dock and works offline. The prompt is gentle: it appears the first time, then at most once a week until you install, and you can close it any time with the close button or the Escape key. Where the browser supports it there is an Install button; on iPhone and iPad it shows the Add to Home Screen steps. A new Installing EachPayday help topic covers every device.
v0.45.0 - July 2026
- The messages that stay on screen so you do not miss them, like "Update available" or the backup reminder, now have a small close button, and you can also press Escape to clear the newest one. They still do not disappear on their own, so nothing slips past. Closing one only clears it for now; it comes back next time if it still applies.
v0.44.0 - July 2026
- Completed pay cycles are now locked. Once you mark a cycle complete its checklist can no longer be changed by accident, so the archived record stays fixed and matches what you banked.
- You can reopen a completed cycle. If you marked one complete by mistake, the new Reopen button on the checklist undoes it: the cycle's surplus goes back out of your Surplus balance and the checklist becomes editable again.
v0.43.0 - July 2026
- You can now record money you move into or out of your Bills account. When a bill lands before your set-asides have caught up, the card tells you how much to top up. Log that top-up with Move money on the Bills account card, choosing whether it came from your surplus, your savings or elsewhere. Your Bills balance then matches your real account and the prompt clears, and the source balance is drawn down so everything stays in step. You can take money back out the same way.
- New help explains why the Bills account takes a cycle or two to settle when you start partway through your bill periods, and how a top-up bridges the gap until your set-asides catch up.
v0.42.0 - July 2026
- The checklist now groups your bills by how often they are billed, in Each pay, Monthly and Yearly sections. Each group shows its own set-aside subtotal and a short note on where the money goes, so a long list is easier to scan.
- A gentle reminder now appears when it has been a while since your last backup. If a week passes with no backup saved on this device, the app shows a one-off prompt when you open it, with a Download button. It stays quiet in sample mode and shows at most once a day.
v0.41.0 - July 2026
- Starting balances stay accurate when you set up before your first payday. If your first payday is still to come, the amount in your bills or spending accounts can change before then, so on payday EachPayday shows a short reminder to confirm your starting balances still match, or update them in Settings.
- The starting balances step during setup now explains this whenever your first payday is in the future.
v0.40.0 - July 2026
- A floating Feedback button now sits in the bottom corner of every screen, so you can send a note the moment you spot something, without hunting for the footer link. It opens the same Send feedback form and follows your chosen theme and accent colour.
- The feedback form works better on phones: the message box now matches the other fields (no more page zoom when you tap it on iPhone), the keyboard no longer pops up over the form the moment it opens, and the optional email field no longer fills itself in.
v0.39.0 - July 2026
- Easier to read in light mode: orange text and orange buttons now use a slightly deeper shade, and the labels on the green "You're covered" summary are darker, so every label meets the WCAG AA contrast standard.
- Better keyboard and screen reader support: a "Skip to content" link on every screen, a named progress bar on the checklist, and the small buttons and footer links are now easier to tap on a phone.
v0.38.0 - July 2026
- Every setup screen now has a Learn more link that opens the matching help topic right there, in the same panel the "?" button uses. You can check how something works partway through setup without leaving the wizard or losing anything you have typed.
v0.37.0 - July 2026
- EachPayday now waits until your first payday to start. If the payday you pick during setup is still to come, your dashboard opens as a preview you can look over, and tracking begins on the day you are actually paid, so your first pay cycle starts cleanly rather than partway through.
- You can now enter what you already have set aside. Starting balances for your bills and surplus accounts, and a starting amount on each savings goal, let the dashboard match your real bank balances from day one. Set them during setup or later in Settings.
- Setup now includes creating savings goals, so your Piggy bank goals are ready on your first dashboard.
v0.32.0 - July 2026
- If a payday arrives before you closed out your last pay cycle, EachPayday now shows a Close out prompt at the top of the dashboard. Closing it banks that cycle's surplus and adds it to your history, so a cycle you forgot to complete is no longer skipped.
- The Bills account card now tells you when it is behind, when the bills paid so far are more than what you have set aside, so a cycle you could not fully fund is easy to see.
v0.31.2 - July 2026
- EachPayday now fits phones with a notch or rounded corners properly. When you run the app from your home screen, the header, the help panel and the pop-up messages all sit clear of the status bar and the home indicator.
- A short loading screen with the EachPayday logo now shows while the app starts, in place of the blank flash you saw before.
v0.29.0 - July 2026
- When you mark a pay cycle complete, the app now offers to download a backup file if you have not saved one that day, a fresh copy at the natural moment. Settings > Your data also shows when a backup file was last saved from the device you are on.
- Send feedback now also sits at the bottom of the help panel's topic list, right where you are when something is unclear.
- If the app ever hits an unexpected error, it now tells you and offers to open the feedback form with the details already filled in, so you can send us a report in a couple of clicks.
v0.28.0 - July 2026
- Send feedback now opens a small form right inside the app: type your message, add your email if you would like a reply, and send. No email app needed.
- Our privacy policy, terms of sale and disclaimer are now published on eachpayday.com.au.
v0.27.1 - July 2026
- A Send feedback link now sits in the footer of every screen. It opens an email to us with your app version already in the subject line.
- The app now asks your browser to protect its stored data from automatic cleanup, an extra safeguard alongside your backups (browsers can clear site storage when space runs low, especially on iPhone and iPad).
- The update announcement now also appears on devices updating from versions released before the announcement existed.
v0.27.0 - July 2026
- The app now tells you when it has updated: after a new version loads you see the version number and a What's new button that opens this list inside the app.
- This page is new too. Every future update is listed here, newest first, along with the update policy above.
